A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM ("TAP") FUNDS PROGRAMMED BY THE AKRON METROPOLITAN AREA TRANSPORTATION STUDY ("AMATS") TO CONSTRUCT THE VARIOUS PROJECTS LISTED HEREIN; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Executive Summary: This legislation is necessary to apply to AMATS for federal funds. These federal funds are for 2017-2018.

Purpose & Explanation
This is a request to submit the following applications to AMATS for Federal Funding assistance for the following projects:
1. Veterans Trail, Phase One-Connectivity Plan Segment ID's-A, Y & Z
2. Veterans Trail, Phase Two.-Connectivity Plan Segment ID-W
3. Darrow Road (SR 91) Sidewalk Project-Connectivity Plan Segment ID-#15
4. W. Streetsboro Road (SR 303) Sidewalk Project-Connectivity Plan Segment ID-#6
5. Boston Mills Road Sidewalk Project-Connectivity Plan Segment ID-#5
6. Middleton Road Sidewalk Project-Connectivity Plan Segment ID-#2
7. City Wide School Bus Stops
For the various project listed, the engineering, right-of-way acquisition and construction cost funding will be split 80%/20% (Federal/City) with a max. federal cap of $700,000. (See cost summary attached).
Timing Considerations
Following the approval of City Council, this legislation will be submitted to AMATS with the individual project applications. If any of these projects are approved for funding by AMATS, these projects would be funded starting in 2017 or 2018, depending on the available funds.
