Purpose & Explanation
The Leadership Hudson Class of 2012-13 decided to pursue city beautification and enhancing community wellness as it goals. With these goals in mind, the group organized the Race to the Taste as part of the Taste of Hudson festivities. The race proved quite successful in its inaugural year (2013) with over 300 participants. With the proceeds from the Race to the Taste event, the Leadership Class would like to donate $10,000 toward the purchase of four new entrance signs to be located along roadways as visitors enter the City. The specific locations would replace existing signage on Darrow Road (2) and Streetsboro Street (2).
If City Council agrees that this project has merit, then several participants from the Leadership Hudson Class of 2012-13 would like to work with City staff and a local sign vendor to develop a few prototype designs for a new entrance sign. Once the prototype designs are completed, then City staff will return to City Council to share the prototype sign designs. If/when a new sign design is selected, then the Leadership Hudson Class of 2012-13 would donate $10,000 toward the project. Further, the Leadership Hudson Class of 2012-13 offers to coordinate the installation in accordance with the Public Works Service Division.
Should City Council not want to pursue the proposed sign project, then the Leadership Hudson Class of 2012-13 will pursue and propose a different city beautification project to City Council.
Timing Considerations
The group currently has the funding available and is interested in working with City Council and City staff on ...
