Purpose & Explanation
Hudson Springs Park, along Stow Road, is a heavily used park and many park users walk and bike to the park. The Turnpike Trail, Bicentennial Woods Trail and a sidewalk on the western side of the road provide access to the park. Once visitors arrive at the park, they must travel within a narrow driveway or through grassy areas to enter the park. The installation of a new asphalt path will allow safe access into the park for both walkers and bikers in either direction. Additionally, upgrades will be made to crosswalks on Stow Road in front of the park to ensure pedestrians can safely cross the road.
The trail running north to south in front of the park along Stow Road will be eight (8) feet wide due to width restrictions within the right-of-way. The leg extending into the park will be ten (10) feet wide. There will also be crosswalks within the park and fencing to prevent vehicles from accessing the pathway.
The estimated cost of construction for the project is $154,577.91. This includes a 10% contingency. A portion of the funding was included in the 2015 Budget in the amount of $75,000. Additional funds will be needed for construction and will be determined based on project bids.
