Purpose & Explanation
Bids were received on July 28, 2015 for the SUM-91-15.20 N. Main Street and Prospect Street Intersection Improvements. Below is the Engineer's Estimate along with the respective bids.
Engineer's Estimate: $902,088.62
Ronyak Paving, Inc. $1,235,976.97

Due to the bid exceeding the Engineer's Estimate in excess of 10% (37% above engineer's estimate) we are recommending rejection of the bid. Engineering will rebid the project closer to 2016 for 2016 completion, adjusting the plans and estimate as needed, based on contractor feedback.
Timing Considerations
This project will be rebid at the end of 2015 for 2016 construction.
Fiscal Impact
X Currently Budgeted ($170,000 - 2015 Budget (City's 20%), $761,760 (Fed. Funds))
Supplemental Appropriation Required
Appropriation Not Required.

Recommendation
Suggested Action
Staff recommends rebidding the project for 2016 work. Staff will be adjusting plans, project notes, and the estimate as needed. Staff also recommends that City Council approve a motion to reject the Ronyak Paving, Inc. bid and authorize the re-bidding of this project.
