Executive Summary: Summit County Council has authorized a grant from the Capital Improvements Fund to the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition for seed money for the Summit County Trail & Greenway Community Grant Projects. Eligible projects are those that are referenced in the Summit County Trail & Greenway Plan. Veterans Trail is part of the Summit County Trail & Greenway Plan.

Legislative History
On March 16, 2015 the Park Board made a recommendation that City Council authorize the City Manager to submit a grant application to the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition.
With passage of Resolution No. 15-53 on April 21, 2015, City Council authorized the City Manager to apply for grant funding from the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition for design and engineering of Phase II of Veterans Trail and declared an emergency.
Purpose & Explanation
The Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition grant committee met on August 13 and awarded a $5,000 grant towards the Veterans Trail project for design and engineering.
Timing Considerations
The project must be completed in one year.
