Executive Summary:  The Hudson Garden Club provides grant funding for projects that fulfill purposes of the Hudson Garden Club including: spreading knowledge and love of gardening through its members, undertaking projects of beautification of publicly owned property, and supporting education in horticulture and related fields.

Purpose & Explanation

The Hudson Tree Commission has asked the City of Hudson to apply for a grant for $2,400 to water flower pots and hanging baskets on North Main Street from Park Lane to Owen Brown Street.  The funding would help cover the cost of hiring a contractor to perform this task, which is estimated to cost $7,000 for the growing season and is currently budgeted.

Timing Considerations

Due to a November 1 deadline, staff has submitted this application and requests Council’s affirmation with passage of this Resolution.

Staff recommends that City Council pass this Resolution, affirming staff’s submission of an application to the Hudson Garden Club for grant funding of $2,400.
