Purpose & Explanation
The City Administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to extend the terms of an existing contract with Thayer Power & Communication for aerial fiber-optic cable installation services. Thayer has completed the areas already scheduled on this project. Extending this contract will allow the installation process to meet the goals through the remainder of the year. The original bid document gave us the ability to derive unit pricing for the various services needed. Thayer Power & Communication has agreed to honor those prices for the additional work zones. Administration is requesting an additional $80,000 to complete the above mentioned areas.

Total Contract = $212,118 (original contract $132,118 + term extension $80,000)
Timing Considerations
Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will proceed with aerial installations and fiber splicing utilizing Thayer Power & Communication. Staff requests emergency legislation to expedite the additional aerial work.
