Purpose & Explanation
This phase of the improvements to Barlow Road consists of new traffic signals at the intersection of Barlow Road and Terex Road (West). This signal at this intersection was warranted in 2015 as part of the Barlow Road Engineering Design and the recommendation of the administration is to proceed with this signal in order to protect the public safety. The project will replace the existing flashing overhead beacon/stop signs at this intersection with the new overhead mast arm, signal heads, controller cabinet, underground infrastructure and pavement marking.

The Engineer's Estimate for the construction work is $150,000.
Timing Considerations
Following the approval of this resolution by the City Council, the Engineering Department will advertise in the local newspaper and receive bids. Staff will only return to Council if the bids received are in excess of 10% of the Engineer's Estimate; otherwise the City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder.
