Executive Summary:  The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation provides Safety Intervention Grant Program funding to Ohio public employers who wish to purchase equipment to substantially reduce or eliminate injuries and illnesses associated with a particular task or operation.

Purpose & Explanation

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation could provide Safety Intervention Grant Program funding on a 75% (OBWC)/25% (City) matching basis, up to $40,000, to assist with the funding of a power ambulance cot and power cot loading system for one of the Hudson EMS ambulances.

Timing Considerations

The City Manager has submitted a grant application to receive funding in early 2017.  The next round of funding is not available until mid-2017.

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that City Council affirm the City Manager’s application for a Safety Intervention Grant from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for funding towards a power ambulance cot and power cot loader for one Hudson EMS ambulance.
