Each vehicle purchase was approved in the 2018 City Budget (Ordinance No. 17-184) under "Equipment Replacement" at $48,000.00 for the EMS vehicle and equipment and $50,000.00 for the Fire Department vehicle and equipment.
Purpose & Explanation
The Fire and EMS Departments are each requesting the purchase of a new vehicle per the 2018 Approved Budget, and in accordance with the approved fleet replacement schedule. The new Fire Department vehicle will replace an existing staff car (2008 Ford Explorer). The new EMS vehicle will replace an existing staff car (2008 Ford Explorer). The (2) new vehicles will be 2018 all-wheel drive Dodge Durango SUV's. Both of the vehicles being replaced will either be used by another City department or sold on GovDeals.
The Fire Department and EMS would each like to purchase an all-wheel drive Dodge Durango SUV through the Ohio Department of Public Safety/LESO Auto Choice program at a cost of $27,398.27 (each) which is the lowest and best quote. Two other quotes were received from Greve Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge at State Procurement pricing ($29,742.00) each for a Dodge Durango SUV and from Lebanon Ford at State Procurement pricing ($28,169.00) each for a similarly featured Ford Explorer. All three quotes are attached.
The Fire and EMS Departments will separately purchase additional emergency and accessory equipment for these vehicles. Total costs including the vehicles and all additional equipment shall not exceed $48,000.00 for EMS and $50,0...
