Purpose & Explanation
The School Travel Plan has been approved by ODOT making Hudson eligible to apply for both infrastructure projects and non-infrastructure programs listed within the School Travel Plan.  Applications are due March 1, 2013.  Hudson is eligible to apply for up to $500,000 of infrastructure programs to increase walking and biking of K-8 students and improve safety.  No local match is required and the funds are provided by the Federal Funding (80%) and State Funding (20%).  This resolution authorizes the Safe Routes Hudson infrastructure application to seek projects totaling up to $500,000 including:

Once approved by Council, City staff will proceed with submitting the application to ODOT.

Staff recommends this resolution be approved by Council and an emergency clause be added in order to meet the March 1, 2013 deadline for applications to ODOT and for the public safety.
