Purpose & Explanation

The traffic signal maintenance contract is currently held by the Signal Service Company located in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. The Public Works staff has consistently been pleased with Signal Service Company’s response time, professionalism and technical expertise. Public Works has publically advertised for this contract and has received one bid from the Signal Service Company.  The current hourly rate for a service vehicle and technician is $59.00/hr.  The newly submitted hourly rate is $61.00 /hr.  This new rate represents a 3.28% increase in the hourly rate.  A detailed bid tabulation has been attached for review.  

Historically the Signal Service Company has provided traffic signalization system contract services to the city of Hudson by meeting the following contract requirements:

 

1.                     Specialized equipment - the nature of the specialized services required.

2.                     Years of service experience - familiarity with the City of Hudson’s signalization systems and components.

3.                     Response time - proximity of the company to the city of Hudson.

Timing Considerations

Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will award and enter into a contract with Signal Service Company. The contract term will be two (2) years from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018.

Suggested Action

Based on unit pricing submitted, past work performance, and contract requirements, Staff recommends that City Council award the contract for traffic signalization equipment maintenance and repairs to the Signal Service Company, 4341 Cranwood Parkway, Warrensville Heights, OH 44128 at the unit pricing submitted for a period of two (2) years with a two (2) year renewal option, provided the City has been satisfied with contract performance and pricing remains reasonable.
