Purpose & Explanation
Over a several year period City owned properties were reviewed in establishing a compatible location to site a new City Public Works Facility. As Public Works operations provide a very diverse spectrum of City services, it requires a fairly large amount of space and land to operate effectively and efficiently. With land requirements being an important concern, Public Works consultants and staff recommended the facility be sited on the former YDC property. A GIS photo (exhibit “A”) has been attached to show the approximate limits of the project. The project site consists of approximately 15 acres.
The second attachment (exhibit “B”) provides a summary of the project progress to date as well as an estimated timeline we wish to adhere to. The sub-committee is currently in the process of reviewing the project design and construction cost proposal submitted by MS Consultants, Inc. as the potential recommendation to City Council on the January 17th consent agenda.
