Purpose & Explanation
The City was awarded $977,400 through the State's Municipal Bridge Fund for the construction costs associated with the replacement of the bridge on Ingleside Drive over Brandywine Creek. The City is responsible for all costs above the grant amount. The current total construction cost of the project is estimated at $1,160,000.

The project design includes the replacement of the bridge over Brandywine Creek, new drainage improvements along the roadway and resurfacing of Ingleside Drive from Boston Mills Road to just north of the bridge. The study and design of the Ingleside Drive Bridge Replacement Project is anticipated to be completed in the Fall, 2020. The project is expected to be bid in late 2020 with construction scheduled for 2021.

Ingleside Drive is a dead-end street. At the bridge location, the asphalt road is only 15-feet wide. Due to the need to maintain safe, two-way traffic for emergency vehicle access for the duration of the project, both temporary and permanent pavement widening is necessary while the bridge is being demolished and reconstructed in phases. In addition, the contractor must build a temporary access path along the edge of the roadway in order to access the bridge foundation during construction.
