Purpose & Explanation
The Ingleside Drive Bridge replacement project includes the removal of an existing, failing bridge over Brandywine Creek north of Boston Mills Road. In 2017, the City applied for and was granted ODOT Municipal Bridge Grant funds in the amount of $977,400. The original project estimated cost was $1,221,750.

During the design, the City held numerous meetings with residents to collect public input. The comments were then reviewed with the consultant on how to incorporate into the project. Comments included requests to shift the bridge alignment to alleviate private property impacts. By shifting the alignment, an existing sanitary sewer located on the east side of the bridge will be impacted and need removed and replaced during construction. Residents also requested that new trees be planted after the project to help re-establish the natural setting and provide screening after the project completion. Lastly, the public input process resulted in the selection of a bridge railing type that added additional costs compared to the standard ODOT bridge railings. Also identified during the design was an artesian water source that required a more complex bridge foundation.
